Transportation simulation testing involves the application or simulation of environments found in the transport of goods and equipment. These environments may include vibration, drop or shock, temperature, loose cargo or bounce, as well as other dynamic or climatic environments. Products and equipment are usually tested in the “shipping” configuration which means they would be packed in the default shipping container or transit case during the test. However, some items may also be tested in an unpacked state if there is an expectation that they might frequently be transported in that manner. Tests are performed not only to test the effects of transport on the product itself, but also to test the adequacy of shipping container design and the interaction between product and container during shipping. The Ageing Test is to be performed at a specified voltage of 1.25 times the rated voltage for 750 hours. The test is to be followed with a repeated discharge cycle test which involves charging of the capacitor to a DC voltage and discharge of the same through an Inductance. The J2190A active filter presents a high impedance (approximately 150kOhms) minimizing the loading of the circuit being tested. The output impedance is 50 Ohms allowing low noise coaxial connections to all typical test equipment. The 0.1Hz-10Hz noise band is common for opamp measurements, voltage regulators and voltage references. Many application notes offer schematics of such a filter for test purposes. An engineer’s time is much too valuable to be spent building test equipment. We have created a 4th order high pass and 4th order low pass filter with an optimally flat response and 0dB gain. Additional filters can be cascaded for even sharper cutoff.
